I'm glad to report that the kittens have gone back to the Cats Protection shelter and they have all found home with lovely families. We were really sorry to see them go, but glad that they've found somewhere more permenant.
We'll be getting a new cat to look after soon, and we'll post pictures soon.

Splodge is fighting fit
Splodge has been on Synulox medication for a few weeks now, as she had a touch of pneumonia. However these last few days she's been much more active, playing and fighting with the others instead of hiding in the corner.
We took her to the vets to see if we could take her off the medication. The vet said she was in good health and commented what a cute kitten she is (which she is of course).
So, no more cough medicine for Splodge, here is a picture of her scaling the bookcase.

Goodbye Punk and Pixie
The bad news is that Punk and Pixie have to go back to the Cats Protection Centre, no-one has currently reserved them, but hopefully they'll find a good home soon. They are a lovely couple of kittens, adorable, very loving and full of energy. If you love them as much as we do, visit Cats Protection North London and give them a home.
The good news is that the reason Punk and Pixie are going back is that mummy Mogwai and her kittens are coming back to stay with us. They are over the worst of the Calici virus, but unfortunetly one of the kittens, Stripe, got very ill and passed away.
The kittens have got alot bigger and are looking alot healthier, we'll be posting new pictures of them soon.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6....
While we had Mogwai and her 7 kittens we were constantly counting them to check we hadn't lost any of them.
On Sunday, we opened the bedroom door and allowed them to wander round the whole flat, and they managed to find alot of nooks and crannies in the bedroom to hide in.
We did a count, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6... where's the other one? We looked in all the places they like to hide, we were searching for about 15 mins, getting really worried that we might have left a window open.
Then, finally, Faith found kitten number 7:

A Tough Weekend
Looking after the kittens over the past weekend has pretty much been a full-time job (more full-time for Faith than me).
One of the reasons the Cats Protection Shelter were so desparate to foster the kittens was that they have had an outbreak of the Calici virus among their cats. It was hoped that our kittens hadn't caught it.
On Saturday we noticed that one of the kittens, Tiger, was limping. I assumed he'd just taken a bad fall off the sofa, but Faith was worried cos he seemed to be abit down too. We phoned the shelter and were told that limping was a sign of de-hydration, which was a symptom of Calici.
Faith and Catherine from the Cats Protection shelter tooks the poor little fella to the vets and he got an injection of anti-biotics which would last him 48 hours, so he'd need another one on Monday.
We also had to feed him, through a syringe, with "Super" food, that would keep his energy up, and give him a hydrating water mixture through a syringe. We kept him separate from the others in the bedroom.
Over the course of the day, 3 other kittens, Splodge, Spot and Stripe, started looking alittle run-down. So, another visit to the vets and 3 more injections later, we had a sick-bay of four little kittens, that we were trying to feed through a syringe as often as possible.
This went on all through Sunday, with pretty much constant feeding and looking after by Faith, and it made us appreiciate how easy it was to look after them before they got ill!
On late Sunday evening, Mo-Fo and Token were looking abit down, so it was obvious that they were all going to get this virus, although mummy cat Mogwai looked like she was avoiding it. We arranged for the vet to come and see them Monday, and I took the day off work to look after them.
On Monday, they all got the anti-biotic injections, and Catherine said that she had found somewhere else for them to stay while they were ill, as we couldn't look after them while we were at work. We will be getting them back when they are better, but Faith was sorry to see them go.
To be honest, I'm quite glad of the break, but I'm looking forward to getting them back in good health, and I hope they'll be ok.
That's it for now, we had a nice quite evening yesterday, but we should be getting the little Gremlins back soon.

Mummy and her 7 bundles of joy
Faith and I have wanted to get a pair of cats, as our Siamese cats, Saturn and Tabitha, both died over the last year.
We went to the Cats Protection Adoption Centre http://www.northlondoncats.org.uk/ and there were 2 lovely house-cats that we fell in love with. However when one of the centre people came to see us in our flat, they throught the flat was too small :o(
However we could help out by fostering cats for short periods of time, when the shelter couldn't house them.
So we agreed to foster, we thought it would be a nice thing to do, and it would give Faith some company when I'm away.
So...our first assignment...a mum and her 7 kittens!!! A bit more than we expected!!!
Abit of panicing later and furniture rearranging later, and they are all starting to settle in. We are going to use this blog to update people on these little kitty-kats and any others we get in the future. Pictures of the cuties to follow.
